Point__________________________________________________________
-Gay marriages should not be legalised in Singapore
Elaboration_____________________________________________________
- Majority of the people in Singapore cannot come to terms in approval of gay marriages
- Idea of gay marriages or homosexual relationships, largely conflicts with the traditional values inculcated into us
- Gay marriages may in some people’s eyes ruin the sacred institution of marriage, meant for heterosexuals only
- People fear that gays may organise ‘recruitments’ and thus people are unwilling to associate with them
- The thought of gay sex among people , makes them repulsive
Example_____________________________________________________________
- Apr 25, 2008, A Singapore television channel has been fined 15,000 Singapore dollars (11,200 US) for promoting a gay lifestyle, the media regulator said.
-MediaCorp TV Channel 5 was fined for an episode of a home decor series, “Find and Design”, which contained several scenes of a gay couple with their baby, said the Media Development Authority.
- Murder of 15 year old Lawrence King on 12 Feb 2008. He was shot in the head by 14 year old Brandon McInerney.
L(Conclusion)__________________________________________________________
- Singaporeans are not ready for gay marriages and gay associated activities
- Avoiding discrimination of homosexual might cause a stir in Singapore, clashes between the majority and minority
- Insecurity about new ideas and culture created by homosexuals, viewed from the perspective of the majority heterosexuals
- Laws created for marriage are oriented mainly for heterosexual marriages. Gay movement for their rights towards marriage, may require huge changes to law in Singapore.
- Conflicting religious ideas, in a multicultural society is not ideal for Singapore. Unhappiness geared towards homosexuals.
